A few ways to fax



 
How to receive a fax using the Epson Workforce 840:
1.  Turn off the phone answering machine
2.  Give the sender our home phone number 
3.  Our home phone is already plugged into the printer and the wall
4.  I have the fax set to “auto off,” so turn it on (it's a tiny green light)Let the phone ring
5.  Make sure the “auto” selection on the printer is off  and the phone answering machine is on

How to send a fax using the Epson Workforce 840:
1.  Turn off the phone answering machine
2.  Place the fax on the scan bed
3.  On the printer display, click “send fax”
4.  A number pad will come up. Type in the number
5.  Click okay and then the diamond shape to send the fax  
6.  Follow the prompts on the printer display
7.  Make sure the “auto” selection on the printer is off  and the phone answering machine is on

How to send a fax from a free cloud-based fax service:
1.  Turn off the phone answering machine
2.  Go to http://faxzero.com/ (Faxzero is free to send, but it charges for receiving)
3.  Fill in the sender and receiver information
4.  Check email and click on the confirmation link
5.  Let the phone ring. Do not pick up
6.  Keep refreshing the “attempting delivery” page on faxzero or check email to verify delivery
7.  Make sure the “auto” selection on the printer is off  and the phone answering machine is on

How to test sending and receiving a fax (to troubleshoot or verify that the machine is working)
1.  Turn off the phone answering machine
2.  I have the fax set to “auto off,” so turn it on (it's a tiny green light)
3.  Send a fax to HP 1-888-473-2963 (http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&lc=en&docname=c00259105)
4.  HP will return a fax (apparently they don’t know we’re testing a non-HP machine)
5.  Let the phone ring
6.  Make sure the “auto” selection on the printer is off  and the phone answering machine is on

Another way to test only receiving a fax from a free cloud-based fax service:
