Quicken 2016 How to turn off update portfolio on investing.quicken.com

In Quicken 2016, in One Step Update, I started getting this message  investing.quicken.com portfolio updated" even though "online services" was unchecked.

I don't know what it is, and I don't want it. I don't care how it got there. Maybe something stupid I did.

All the fixes I found online didn't really apply. Here's what I figured out for my situation. I don't even know if all the steps were needed. Maybe it will help somebody else as well:

  1. Go into one step update settings, and where you see "update portfolio on investing," even though it's unchecked, click on "select investing data to sync" and uncheck "track my watchlist" and switch the radio button to "send only my symbols."
  2. Click on the investing tab in your Quicken app, then edit your watch list. You will then see a window titled "security list." Uncheck everything in the security list.
  3. Go to one step update, and check the box that says only show the latest update. That way you won't see the old message any more.

Save those tracking numbers from the United States Post Office

In December 2015, I returned some items to JC Penney. I never got the $50 refund. In January, I dug out the post office receipt.

I googled "Post office tracking" and what I needed popped right up. I put in the tracking number from my receipt. It said the package had been picked up in the JC Penney Returns Center and it showed the date.

So then I went on the JC Penney website and opened a chat. The rep efficiently requested the tracking id, and within minutes, my refund was issued.

It was all pretty simple and quick. I suggest saving those post office receipts until you see you've gotten your refund.
